I am very happy to introduce the newest addition to the Scientific American blog network ? Unofficial Prognosis, written by Ilana Yurkiewicz (Twitter).

Ilana is a first-year student at Harvard Medical School who created Unofficial Prognosis to capture her reflections through her medical training. She graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in biology from Yale University, where she did research in a genomics laboratory and was Editor-in-Chief of the Yale Scientific Magazine. Following graduation, she received an AAAS Mass Media Fellowship to become a science reporter for The News & Observer in Raleigh, North Carolina and then went on to write for Science Progress in Washington, DC. She has an academic interest in bioethics, currently conducting ethics research at Harvard after previously working at the Presidential Commission for the Study of Bioethical Issues.

You may have also seen Ilana?s writing on our Guest Blog about a month ago ? When Does a Medical Student Overstep Her Boundaries?. This blog will be fun and interesting to read. For now, go say Hello to Ilana on her introductory post ? How (not) to think like a doctor ? and give her a warm welcome to the network.
