Tottenville High Alumni Boomer Cruise from Charleston, SC

I spent 4 wonderful years as a student at the original Tottenville High School at the corner of Yetman Avenue and Academy place in Tottenville, Staten Island, New York.

Graduating in 1960, that notwithstanding, my classmates and I were products of the Fabulous Fifties era, from 1956 to '59/'60

Many of our classmates are gone now....beloved Kevin Sheehy, who passed on in 2000 a short time following our class's 40th reunion...Ellen Johansen, on whom I had a tremendous crush for about a year, Barbara Hagie, my very first "girlfriend" dating back to 2nd grade at P.S. 36 in Annadale, and Robert Reib of Great Kills, who I didn't know all that well, but with whom I shared several classes over those years, to name only a few.

Tottenville High School is no longer in Tottenville, though the name still exists, but since the fall of 1972 has occupied a new ediface in the community of Huguenot, one village south of Annadale, where I grew up.

The original building, dedicated in 1937 currently houses 6th and 7th graders as Intermediate School 34.

Over many years I labored in the financial services arena, in banking, ultimately as a branch manager for several years, in commercial financing and leasing, and in Insurance, first as an agent with Nationwide Insurance; and later as an Agency Manager (formerly referred to as a District Sales Manager) with that company.

I've been married more times than I care to acknowledge, but was widowed in 1984 at the height of my business prosperity and?following some of my happiest years in marriage. I am once again happily married?to Cathy.

I moved to South Carolina in January of 1994, and have been in my current home since 1995, the longest I have lived in any one place since graduating high school in 1960.

We've all experienced more than?a few slices of life, some bitter; others sweet, and we all have lots of tales to?tell.

My recently renewed interest in the leisure travel industry (first manifesting itself in 1990) led me to write for this blog site, at the encouragement of a friend here in Aiken, SC

I've followed that up by?spinning off the site?with its own travel agency, aptly called Vacation Boomer Travel.
We specialize in cruises, Bermuda, touring South Carolina, and learning and writing about leisure pursuits of the baby boomer generation.

How many alumni would care to join my wife, Cathy, and I on a cruise this fall? Members of any class up to the class of 1972 are welcome to share their experiences and stories aboard Carnival Cruise Lines' Carnival Fantasy, home ported in the charming city of Charleston, South Carolina.

The reason for the cutoff to the class of 1972, is.. that class is the last to graduate from the original Tottenville based building we knew and loved.? Future cruises and events will definitely include the classes of 1973 to the present.

Weeks will fly by quickly.? The Fantasy is very popular with North and South Carolinians because of the close proximity to their homes, so planning and preparing for this event will?require?prompt responses.

??I will plan a pre-cruise overnight stay in or near Charleston, so first time visitors to the area have an opportunity to explore this most hospitable southern city.

Please kindly advise of your interest in participating as soon as possible. You aren't under any initial obligation to go; I just need to get an idea of how many cabins to reserve. The cruise will take place between late September and mid-November, and is dependent upon how many might care to join us, and the ship's cabin availability. The ship sails on 4 and 5 night cruises to Nassau and Freeport in The Bahamas. We hope you are able to be flexible as to sailing dates.

We will enjoy a special, closed hospitality reception for all attendees the first night onboard, compliments of Vacation Boomer Travel....so give it some thought, and contact me as to your interest as soon as possible.

Hope to see you on board the Carnival Fantasy, for a fantastic Tottenville High get-together!
