With him and Weight that's some serious anger behind the bench to either side of Cappy. I personally would have liked to see more continued success in the Bridge for Thompson but I am fine with this.

Stupid move....Bport is only getting younger and Thompson did a great job with them.....I love Thompson but he is more value to the team coaching our prospects.....

Whats the difference? Most of the guys he coached will probably be on the Isles this year!

He's too good at developing young players to coach our most important young players? It's not like the ages of our main players on the Island is that different from the ages of the main players on the Bridge.

Good points. Though it is very predictable for the Isles to go the in-house route and not pay an experienced guy. At this point...whatever.

I would've kept him down at the Bridge another year. I just love his coaching style and ability to work with young players. I think he'll be the Isles coach sooner or later.

Thompson is a fiery style coach. His background is defense and he will probably be in charge of pairing and changing the D in game. Doug will have the O and power play.
Jack will have the Subway Sandwich with extra mayo (cheap shot).

He did a great job with the Soundtigers. I'd rather him be back in the AHL & WHEN Capuano is fired mid season, then you bring him up. I don't like the idea of firing a coach & then promoting an assistant coach who has been around the team & hasn't been able to convince the head coach that his coaching style isn't working. God I wish they'd just either hire Weight/Thompson or a real NHL coach now. Why do we have to suffer through 25 games of Capuanos non system?

Now, let's promote Capuano to head coach of the SoundTigers! If no one laughs when we tell him, he might fall for it. Curious who coaches at the Bridge now. I'm guessing either Klatt, Sanderson or Cairns (or a staff with all three.) Oddly, Fornabaio says "Am told it?s not quite that formal or finalized yet."

so they move up the guy who is having success in bridgeport and showing people he could make them into a force. But they leave the lame duck there in place. This blows on two levels, either we see 20ish games of crap from the usual or capuano somehow motivates this team to do something and thompson could have been better suited helping bridgeport.

I hope this works out and we didn't rush him to quick. I was convinced that 10 games into the season that Capuano was going to get canned. Cappy is not qualified to be an NHL head coach, lets hope this puts some pressure on him to do some serious coaching.

Weight's getting ready to take the bull by the horns. I'll be surprised if he's not head coach by the end of next season (barring any miracles performances from the team).

If it rains, its Wang's fault. If a blizzard hits LI, its Wang's fault. If a tree fell on someones house, its Wang's fault. Tornado destroys homes, its Wang's fault. Stock market crashes, its Wang's fault. If the apocalypse happened, its Wang's fault.

OK....everything's great. Brilliant move, great minds at the helm. We're due for a Stanley Cup on LI. Naysayers can choke. I love the rebuild! Great stuff! HAPPY TIMES! (hope some feel better now) A good move, but I'm leery of leaving Bridgeport without a capable coach if we do. (which means I'm excited someone brilliant is coming, OK, guys?) The lack of trades/signings of key players means Snow's plan counts on our prospects being fully developed. There is now a hole in the coaching where there was a real strength. Maybe Snow surprises (understatement of the decade) and gets some key UFA's and makes a solid trade for help this summer and makes Thompson's transition to the pro staff easier. Right now, I hope he's watching game tape and acclimating to the new players and systems he'll face. And I hope he doesn't end up the next Bylsma (though I hate that little runt SOB!) and leaves with Cappy keeping his job. And FWIW, Cunneyworth and Eakins are available I believe for Bridgeport.
