I can?t seem to resist a good photo of demolition. Yesterday, I came across a big pile of cement and wood that used to be the Oz night club near the Space Needle and wondered what will come next.
Turns out that property, along with the vacant land near the intersection of Taylor Ave. N. & Denny, will soon be home to a big apartment complex. Pillar Properties, the same company that just completed the new Lyric Apartments on Capitol Hill (our video tour here), plans to begin construction on a 10-story apartment building that will house 258 units. There will be a mix of? floorplans, including 54 studios, 70 one bedrooms, 34 two bedrooms and 16 townhomes. Here?s what the complex will look like?
Pillar says the Runberg Architect-designed building will feature floor to ceiling windows. Inside, there will be stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, and wood flooring. The developers haven?t named the complex yet but they have plenty of time. Construction is expected to take about 24 months.
Speaking of construction?just down the road, the 41-story Insignia condo tower project seems to be gearing up as well. Here?s a photo of the giant work site between 5th and 6th Ave and Bell and Battery Street.
