Pinterest fans know the image-sharing social network is a great place to get inspiration and save ideas on everything from home decorating to vacation planning. Since the boards belonging to "pinners" (aka Pinterest users) are open to everyone however, if you want to collect pictures and other info on gift-buying or even surprise parties, your plans were kind of hard to hide ... until?now.
In an exclusive announcement on TODAY, Pinterest rolled out "Secret Boards," an early holiday gift to the pinner community, which has let the social network know it wants the ability keep some plans private.?
"As pinners prepare for the holiday season, they?ll be able to create up to three secret boards," a Pinterest spokesperson told TODAY.com "And as holiday prep usually involves friends and family, they?ll have the option to collaborate with fellow Pinners. So if you're planning a secret gift for your mom, you and your siblings will be able to pin the perfect gift together."
Here's how it works:
As pinners prepare for the holiday season, they?ll be able to create up to three secret boards. And as holiday prep usually involves friends and family, they?ll have the option to collaborate with fellow Pinners. So if you're planning a secret gift for your mom, you and your siblings will be able to pin the perfect gift together.
- To create a secret board, just scroll down to the bottom of your Pinterest profile to see your Secret Boards and click on "Create a Secret Board."
- The secret boards can easily be made public, by turning the "Secret" setting off ? making it easy to reveal all of your great pins after the surprise is revealed.
?If you're thinking Secret Boards are the perfect place to hide your secret stash of LOL Cats or, say, plan your wedding ??you know, before you've even met Mr. or Mrs. Right, stay tuned. It's not clear if Secret Boards will stick around after the holidays, so just keep that in mind.
